Warning Signs!

I wonder how often we ignore the warning signs ….. and then blame God when we get into trouble? He has clearly told us how to live. Even if you don’t own a Bible ….. He has written it on your heart! We all know right from wrong. He also spelled out the consequences of disobedience. What an amazing Dad! He’s for you ….. not against you. He wants you to be blessed ….. not cursed! It’s not too late to turn around and do life His way!

How Are Your Stress Levels?

How are your stress levels? As any athlete will tell you ….. stress is their friend! It’s what makes them strong and able to compete against the best. But too much stress can cause bones and ligaments to fracture. The pressures of life have the same effect. The right amount of pressure keeps the wheel turning. Without it ….. we would become idle and lazy. It might feel good to live in comfort and ease ….. but we would soon stagnate and become useless. See your pressure points as opportunities to grow. But there must be balance. If stress is compromising your health ….. it’s time to seek help. Do you need to say ‘no’ more often? Is there a conversation that needs to be had? Are you being driven by expectations of others? Some thoughts to mull over and pray about!

Balance

After several weeks of moving and setting up house ….. it was so good to get back to the Gardens yesterday. There were lots of surprises awaiting ….. signs of spring and tūīs enjoying every moment. I realised that life goes on whether I’m there or not! Life can be demanding at times ….. that’s why we need some balance. Half an hour in nature will bring you back to reality and remind you that ….. no matter what is happening around us ….. God is still on the throne!

Turn Around

Have you wandered off the path ….. found yourself in a dark place? Are you telling yourself all kinds of lies to justify where you are? Does it seem too hard ….. and too far to get back on track ….. so you just keep digging a deeper ….. and darker hole? It’s not as far as you think! If you do a 180 turn and take 1 step ….. you’ll find your Father has run the rest of the distance to meet you! In fact He’s been there all the time ….. just waiting for you to turn around!

I want to encourage all the Mums out there! There is no job more important than yours. You are the world to your children! With every mundane task you do ….. you are teaching them how to live in a daily world. With every story you tell ….. you are opening their minds to possibilities and dreams. With every reprimand ….. you are teaching them about choices and consequences. Yes ….. I know sometimes you look into the unknown with longing for something more. But I guarantee you will look back on this time as the most significant and rewarding time of your life. Keep going! You’re a legend!

His Mercies Are New Every Morning!

New month ….. new opportunities! No matter what mistakes we made yesterday ….. today is a new beginning. God’s mercies are new every morning. Mercy means ‘compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm.’ God has every right to punish us for our disobedience ….. but He chooses to show compassion and forgiveness. When we show true repentance for our wrongdoing ….. He not only forgives ….. but also blots out our transgressions as a cloud blocks the sun. He no longer remembers them. Now that’s something to celebrate.

How’s your tank? Are you running on empty? Life’s demands can mean that we are constantly giving ….. but you can only give what you’ve got! Make sure you schedule into your day some time to fill up your tank. Time with God and His Word is like refreshing rain. It will cleanse away the dirt ….. and make you feel new!

Rainy Days And Mondays!

‘Rainy days and Mondays’ ….. don’t have to ‘always get me down!’ I used to love listening to the Carpenters songs when I was younger. But when I hear them now ….. I find some of them depressing. I believe the words we speak (or sing) have a huge impact on the way we feel and ultimately on the choices we make. The Bible says ‘As a man thinks in his heart ….. so is he.’ If your thoughts and feelings take you to a dark place ….. exchange them! I know that sounds overly simple ….. but it actually is! Listen to something more positive and joyful ….. make a list of all the good things in your life ….. do something you enjoy ….. call someone who can help you see things in perspective. Things may be tough ….. but the devil will take you on a downward spiral. You are not fighting against flesh and blood ….. but against spiritual forces of darkness. Knowing that should help you say ‘no’! What you are feeling is not the truth. Talk to God about it and let Him show you His thoughts. They will give you a future and a hope!

Magnolia Season

Yay! It’s magnolia season! These beautiful trees remind me that ….. in every season ….. there is something beautiful! Just as most trees have lost their leaves and blossoms ….. these beauties do their thing. The same God who waited for the wine to run out at a wedding and then made the best wine out of water ….. the same God who waited four days after Lazarus died to bring him back to life ….. is the God who waits till things seem hopeless and then shows up in amazing ways! If you are in a winter season ….. look out for the magnolias!

Signs Of Spring!

Early signs of spring up at the Gardens! A reminder that the winter season is temporary ….. it must give way to the new! You may be in the middle of a fiery trial ….. or a time of barrenness ….. but your breakthrough is coming. ‘Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning!’ God is faithful! This too will come to pass!
