Spread Your Wings

Sue’s Views
Life’s circumstances can make us feel trapped ….. confined ….. frustrated at times. Deep down you know there’s more for you ….. but people ….. or voices from your past ….. keep you limited. Know this ….. nothing can stop you from fulfilling God’s purpose ….. except your unbelief! What you’re going through now is making you strong ….. get ready to spread your wings!

Brain Fog!

Sue’s Views
This is the view from my window this morning!  The good news is ….. it’s usually a sign of a beautiful day ahead. I’m no meteorologist ….. but it has to do with atmospheric pressure and temperature etc ….. and apparently it is actually cleaning the air. I wonder if ‘brain fog’ has the same effect? Those moments when you’re in the middle of a conversation and your mind blanks out! From now on ….. I choose to see it as my mind being cleared of rubbish! Our brains are so often on overload. So whether it’s ‘baby brain’ or ‘brain fog’ ….. the day ahead is looking bright and beautiful!

Communication

Sue’s Views
Communication is an art that takes practice and effort ….. but it’s vital to every relationship. We can so often assume the other person understands us when they have absolutely no clue! It requires being able to say what you want to say clearly ….. and being able to hear and understand what the other person is saying. It involves so much more than just words. Tone ….. body language ….. eye contact ….. volume ….. can tell us much about how someone is feeling. Also right timing is important. When you are angry or upset might not be the best time to resolve conflict. Neither when the other person is engrossed in some other activity. Good communication can bring down walls ….. and build strong relationships.

You Are Valuable To God

Sue’s Views
The human body is made up of 60% water and the rest is mainly minerals that are found in the mud! According to a couple of websites ….. the value of one human is around $160!!! Doesn’t that make you feel so special? And yet ….. we couldn’t create a human if we tried. The story is told that some scientist said he could create a man out of mud ….. and God said ‘Go ahead but first you have to make your own mud!’ We came from nothing ….. and yet Jesus considered us so valuable that He was willing to die on a cross so we would be able to live with Him forever. The things with the least monetary value are often the most important. We spend millions of dollars on trying to look good while God looks at us as we are and sees a pearl of great price for which He was willing to give everything He had. I hope that makes you feel a bit better about yourself!

Labels

Sue’s Views
Many people in our world today are struggling because of labels ….. or things others have said about them. We become what we believe we are. A young man in the Bible was named Jabez which means ‘Pain’ because his Mum had a painful birth! But he wasn’t prepared to wear that name. He prayed, ‘Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory! Let Your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will not cause pain.’ So God granted him what He requested. Ask God to bless you and make you bigger than the label that confines you!

His Mercies Are New Every Morning

Sue’s Views
New week ….. new month ….. new opportunities! No matter what mistakes we made yesterday ….. today is a new beginning. God’s mercies are new every morning. Mercy means ‘compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm.’ God has every right to punish us for our disobedience ….. but He chooses to show compassion and forgiveness. When we show true repentance for our wrongdoing ….. He not only forgives ….. but also blots out our transgressions as a cloud blocks the sun. He no longer remembers them. Now that’s something to celebrate.

Potential

Sue’s Views
Our beautiful hibiscus tree fell down in the wind the other night! The problem was shallow soil so there was not enough depth for its roots to anchor it sufficiently. Frank soon fixed the problem by digging a bigger hole. However ….. it was a good illustration of the need to not limit potential whether it’s a plant ….. a business ….. or a person. No doubt when it was first planted ….. it was a small pot plant. The spot chosen would have seemed adequate. But fifteen years later ….. it succumbed to the inevitable! Always try to see beyond the outward appearance to the potential within. Most people rise to our expectation of them!

I Am!

Sue’s Views

Whatever season you are in ….. God is there! When Moses asked God ‘What is your name?’ ….. God answered ‘I Am!’ Not ‘I was’ ….. or ‘I will be’! He is God of the past ….. present ….. and future. When you are troubled by past memories or regrets ….. He says ‘I am your healer ….. forgiver ….. and reconciler.’ When you are struggling with your present situation ….. He says ‘I am your helper ….. provider ….. and wisdom.’ When you are anxious about your future ….. He says ‘I am your peace ….. protector ….. and guide.’ This pic portrays 3 seasons in one. Autumn leaves ….. winter trees ….. and spring flowers. He is the God of yesterday ….. today ….. and ever more!

Tangled Web

Sue’s Views
Mankind has never been able to keep God’s commandments. That’s why we needed a Saviour! Jesus came ….. not to do away with the Law of God ….. but to fulfill it. It’s true we can’t keep it by ourselves ….. but Christ became our once and for all sacrifice. He paid our debt on the Cross. That doesn’t mean we are free to live as we please. It means we are free from the sin that caused us to live selfishly. The world’s answer to dealing with sin is to add more laws that tolerate and even encourage more sin. Respect for God’s law has been ridiculed ….. but we are expected to respect those who disrespect God! “Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!” (Sir Walter Scott, 1808)
“Be careful to listen to all these words which I command you, so that it may be well with you and your sons after you forever, for you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the Lord your God.” Deuteronomy 12:28

Magnolias

Sue’s Views
No matter how bad things seem ….. there’s always something to be thankful for! I’m thankful that God created magnolias to blossom in the middle of winter. They are like a ray of sunshine against a dark ….. cold ….. and grey backdrop. For many right now ….. the backdrop is looking a little bleak. Inflation ….. rising prices ….. sickness ….. increase in violence and crime ….. anxiety ….. to name a few. I encourage you not to look at the backdrop ….. but look for the magnolias! They are a reminder that God is in control. World problems will come and go ….. but He reigns supreme for all eternity!
“But the Lord reigns forever, executing judgment from his throne.
He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness
The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.”
Psalm 9: 7-9
