Expect Breakthrough!

Sue’s Views
The night before Jesus was born ….. everyone was going about life as normal. They were living under a tyrant, King Herod ….. and no one had heard from God for a very long time. You could say there was a lot of oppression and despair. They had no idea what was about to happen! Only a handful of people knew because they were expectant. Never give up on God’s promises. Your breakthrough could happen at any moment!

Discernment

Sue’s Views
One of God’s greatest gifts to us is the gift of discernment. It’s the ability to see things from God’s perspective ….. and to perceive  the difference between right and wrong, good and evil, truth and error. It’s more than a gut feeling or intuition although these are definitely warning signs that something is amiss. It  comes from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Our judgement may be flawed or biased. His will always be based on what is true and right. There will be many voices in our ears telling us ‘It’s not that bad’ …… ‘You can get away with it’ ….. ‘Everybody’s doing it’. The devil is doing a good job of watering down what the Bible teaches. That’s why it’s so important to know what it does say. When you pray ….. listen twice as much as you speak. That’s why God gave us two ears and only one mouth!

Plain and Simple

We’ve had plenty of challenges this year ….. but one of the most challenging things has been trying to separate the truth from the lies. One of the problems with lies is that you have to tell more lies to uphold the original lies. It weaves a web of mistrust ….. cynicism ….. and deception. It also makes life very complicated. The Bible is the only source of truth! God cannot lie!
I love this verse from Micah 6:8. It is plain and simple and will never change or grow old.
‘….. the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.’

Daily Choices

Sue’s Views
Each day when we wake up ….. we have a choice whether to be negative or positive. The way we start the day often determines how that day progresses. Instead of replaying past hurts in your head over and over ….. start by thanking God for all He has done ….. every blessing He has bestowed on you ….. focussing on the good things about that person or situation that makes you angry ….. and  committing your day to the Lord. I love this prayer from Joyce Meyer that goes something like ‘Dear Lord, I thank you for helping me through this day. So far I haven’t yelled at anyone ….. thought any bad thoughts ….. or messed up in any way ….. but in a moment I have to get out of bed ….. and that’s when I’m really going to need your help!’ Daily life presents us with many opportunities to be negative ….. but we can choose not to go there!

Shelter From the Storm

We got caught in the rain on Saturday and had to shelter under the roses. We soon realised we weren’t the only ones sheltering there! This little bird sat perfectly still waiting for the storm to pass ….. while I was getting impatient because I had ‘things to do’! This is the time of year when we can easily make rash decisions ….. spend money we don’t have ….. and let our ‘to do list’ determine our actions. Jesus came to bring us peace in the midst of chaos ….. light in the midst of darkness ….. hope in the midst of despair ….. and salvation in the midst of a corrupt and sinful world. There is no other way we can find those treasures!

Light in the Darkness

Things are getting crazier out there every day! We’ve had to learn a whole new language ….. live a whole new way with new rules and restrictions. The finish line changes from week to week. We don’t know who we can trust ….. or whose agenda is running the show! And I for one am confused as to which Greek letter we are up to now🤔 But one thing I do know is that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega ….. the first and the last ….. the beginning and the end. His blood is able to protect and to heal ….. to prevent and to cure. His Word and Promises are ‘Yes and Amen’! His ‘agenda’ is the only agenda that matters. He is trustworthy ….. faithful ….. and all powerful. His boundaries are permanent and for our highest good. His ‘yes’ means ‘yes’ ….. and His ‘no’ means ‘no’! He came to earth to bring peace and light at a time of utter darkness. It’s time to let Him shine! 

Wisdom from Water Lillies

Sue’s Views
The water lily has a couple of secrets that we would do well to learn from. Firstly ….. they don’t allow themselves to go ‘under the circumstances’. They just let them roll off so they stay afloat. Secondly ….. they are anchored to the strong foundation from which they receive life giving oxygen. Great advice for us all!

As another school year comes to an end ….. it’s good to see students rewarded for their efforts. It has been a challenging year to say the least for teachers ….. parents ….. and children. But you have made it through! Congratulations! This year’s awards are mainly given for things like helpfulness ….. perseverance ….. encouragement to others. Excelling in maths or science may get you a great job ….. but these qualities will determine a great life and a ‘Well done’ from the One who matters the most. 
2 Timothy 4:7-8 
‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.’

Celebrate Each Day!

Forgive me for posting so many pics of my grandies ….. but I learn so much from them and they inspire so many of my posts. This one of Asaph reminds me how helpless I am without God. I am weak and fragile ….. but He is my strength and my life. It also reminds me that every day of my life is written in God’s journal ….. and therefore is important to celebrate. This day will never come back again! To all the new Mums out there ….. and Mums to be ….. know how vitally important you are. Your child relies on you. Right now it may seem like hard work ….. but ….. believe me ….. the rewards are coming!

Choose Love

Sue’s Views
Emotions can be fickle things! They can change with the weather ….. they can be intense one moment and then subside the next. We sometimes refer to having a love/hate relationship with someone or something. In any relationship ….. we can find things we love and things we don’t love! But love is so much more that a feeling. It’s a choice! The next time you feel that icy ….. prickly feeling creeping over you ….. choose love!
Here’s some great advice from Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”
I love how it says ‘If anything …..’! Sometimes we have to look really hard ….. but there is always something to love!
